I was raised on a religious commune in Humboldt County where the redwoods filtered sunlight in dusty slants. At night, instead of saying prayers, my eyes drifted to spiderwebs in the rafters–that’s where all the terrible secrets lived.

I’ve always been drawn to horror, not as something grisly or gratuitous, but scuttling and restless, where we explore fear to find our better selves.
